The Musée vivant du Fromage opened its doors in June on the Ile Saint-Louis.

“An educational and interactive space for discovering France's cheese and regional heritage": that's how the Musée vivant du Fromage describes itself, inaugurated in mid-June in the rue Saint-Louis-en-l'Isle (Paris IVe).

The epithet “living” was added because this address is not just a museum for discovering the world and territories of cheese.

The 180 m2 space, which once housed the famous restaurant Nos Ancêtres les Gaulois, also features an educational area where courses and workshops are held, a traditional creamery and cheese dairy, and a real dairy producing cheese “to promote cheese-making know-how and encourage vocations”.

This initiative is the brainchild of Pierre Brisson, founder of the Paroles de fromagers “cheese school” in the 10th arrondissement of Paris.
