Can you tell us about the role of the Buisson company in the distribution of French cheeses?
Operating in the Rungis market since 1982, the Buisson company has established itself as a key player in the distribution of French and European cheeses. We have also developed a complete range of Italian, Spanish and Corsican charcuterie. Buisson is one of the last independent wholesalers operating at the Rungis market. This freedom allows us to adapt to the needs of our partners in order to offer them a relevant and high-quality range of products. As the first PLA wholesaler to be awarded the ‘Marché Durable’ (Sustainable Market) certification, specific to the wholesale market, we are recognised for our daily commitment to more responsible and respectful trade. The availability and responsiveness of the Buisson team allows our customers throughout Europe to benefit from products carefully selected according to their needs, whether they are wholesalers, retailers, exporters or restaurateurs.
Which cheeses or terroirs are you particularly promoting this year?
We favour PDO and PGI labels, farm products and short supply chains to showcase the best of our terroirs and promote their expertise. Our teams work daily to highlight the work of our producers.
How do you select your partner producers?
We work with our suppliers in a climate of trust and mutual respect, to preserve the terroir, promote products and defend quality in the long term. The quality of their work and their expertise are the key factors that guide our choices. We are just one link in the value chain, but the story of a product is written first and foremost by the producer, and that is what we highlight to our customers in order to give them as much information as possible to promote our products. Buisson also works with large European groups renowned for their rigour and the quality of their products, in order to guarantee regular supply and rapid stock rotation.
What expectations do you see today from your customers in France and abroad?
The expectations of our customers, whether on the domestic or international market, remain largely the same. They are looking for quality products at a good price. We are fortunate to work in an environment where our products are highly valued by our region, our producers and our distributors. We are seeing a sharp increase in demand for farm-fresh or certified products. The work done by the organisations is bearing fruit. The overall quality of the products is guaranteed and our customers have confidence that the specifications are being met. The daily life of food professionals is very demanding. To make things easier for our customers, Buisson guarantees delivery throughout the United Kingdom and Europe in partnership with our logistics provider.
What do you hope to gain from your participation in the 2026 Cheese and Dairy Products Show?
The Cheese Show is a unique opportunity for Buisson to share its vision of our profession. Like other players in the sector, we focus on promoting our service and the range of products we offer. Our customers are not just looking for the ‘price of the product’, but above all a vision of our profession, a relationship with their salespeople and a certain idea that eating well is everyone's business. This show also comes at a pivotal moment in the handover from the generation that built us and instilled in us a passion for our profession to the new generation, which will be committed to continuing what has been done, while bringing a new vision to face the challenges of tomorrow and perpetuate the legacy that has been passed on to us.
See you on 7 and 9 June for the next edition of the Cheese and Dairy Products Show!
